LA Observed: Eli Broad and the LA Times | Which Way L.A.?

This is quite exciting, as it's been suggested in order for the newspaper to survive it would need to be supported by a non-profit foundation, as the original business model no longer works. Seems like Eli Broad, may test this out with the LA Times…

"Los Angeles businessman and philanthropist Eli Broad has reportedly partnered with investment banker and former L.A. Deputy Mayor Austin Beutner to make a bid for the Los Angeles Times.

they would consider purchasing the block of Tribune Company newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, and the Hartford Courant, and then sell off some of those titles.

Beutner and Broad would reconfigure the Times into a nonprofit, which Beutner would run while Broad joins its board of governors.

  3. Howdy! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
