Coming to a stance on "gay marriage"

So.. I never ever gave much thought to the "gay marriage" issue mainly bc I think everyone should have non denomination civil unions gay or straight. So Sat I was dancing at a gay club and this girl just moved to LA from Alabama she said to me, "i feel like i landed on a different planet. I LOVE LA" and it reminded me of when I arrived at 19 and was hanging out at WEHO (gayland) I felt the same way.

It's not a secret I feel quite trapped in the land of soccer moms and at one point of the evening I thought to myself, "these are my people. I would probably be happier raising k here if they only had great schools."

I had fantasies of the great margaritas and good house music they would have on PTA nights, ridiculous frufru costumes I could put Kiowa in at classmate's princess parties, and the very realistic aspect of not having to hold my tongue every 67 seconds at the park..

Then it got me thinking how. Well, if I am happy to hang out, live among, raise a child in the "gay" culture they too should marry, separate and divorce as much as "we" all love and hate, are happy and sad. It is unequal to say their love is not the same as "ours" thus people are not afforded the same rights and privileges (of an overblown, anarchistic institution).

So I have no choice but to realize it is an "issue," I should care, and I do believe people of all sexualities the right to marry legally.

It took me a long while but I got here eventually.
