Broken into Haunted House Short Video

Frame_stairsDigital Art

A few months ago, the street racers and I broke into an abandoned school rumoured to be haunted and explored the grounds. I cut what I recorded into a six minute experimental documentary which means, i made a film with real footage but didn’t cut it like people expect, as in with talking heads and lots of explanation. It is a nod to cinema verite in the form of digital art. In fact, there are no voices at all except in the background is a track from reknowned Hong Kong DJ/Teacher/Promoter/Producer  Tszpun, who kindly allowed me to use his music.

Frame_house_1It’s a mediation on light and allows the subjects and the place to remain mysterious. It is something I am trying to do in all my visual work. Create a mood and invite the audience to a place they may have not come across before and let them find their own way.

I have linked to a page where I am grouped with two other Chinese digital artists who are fantastic. I am on the top right. If you have time, I would appreciate your comments and suggestions. And no it’s not a "film," and yes it’s created for the context of a contemporary art museum rather than the cinemas.

  1. awesome work.
very haunting, eerie and psychedelic feel… hopefully thats what you were going for, cause if it was then you’ve done an incredible job.
it lasted more than 6 minutes… in that its imprinted on your mind for more that a while after you’ve finished watching it.

  2. I thought it was cool, very atmospheric, the music went with it well, kind of built the suspense. I liked how it was just lit with the flashlight also.
