David Bowie is my Dad’s age! (And what about his hair?)

davidbowieToday is my Dad’s Birthday. He’s 58. That makes him the same age as David Bowie, when I told him that, he said that’s what scares him the most because he remembers what Bowie used to look like. To encourage his self esteem I told dad that Bowie looks great the last time I saw him in concert, and that he looks about as good as Bowie except the rock star still has his hair (Oops).

But now I think about it, that’s really worrying, there is no way Mr. Bowie can have a head of full blond hair at his age, cut so nicely too. It’s gotta be fake in some way. See… the power of image and makeovers, coz you know, I also called David Bowie, “Sexy” in my concert review. Hahahaha. If a friend called my dad “sexy,” I would give her the number of my psychiatrist and urge her to get help… not to say that there is anything wrong with liking older men, although this precaution for anti-flame maybe unnecessary, everyone who reads this tend to be under 35. Older men are not to be interested in the non stop rambling of a girl like me, it reminds them too much of their daughters.

  1. I read you Glutter and I am over 30! I am just glad my 19 year old daughter doesn’t have a blog (only kidding). Keep up the great posts.
(P.S. I remember Bowie when he was young too)

  2. Is that a hint Glutter? I hope that in my blogroll you do not mind being called “eclectic”? It is truly a compliment you know!
And what do you mean not your “Flaming type”? hahaha!
By the way read your aricle that you got published, well done on all fronts.

  3. No Hint. I didn’t even know I wasn’t on your blogroll until NOW.. hahahahaa.
Thanks for reading it. It’s quite a few words to battle through. I tried to make it shorter but my editor said “NO!” with lots of exclaimation marks and made me write about four more to explain what I meant.
As for “flaming type.” I didn’t mean it the way you suggested…i have to say I literally laughed until tears came up when I realized what I was unintentionally saying.

  4. Yan: Neither. They both seem like obnoxious pricks to me. 😛
Weirdly enough, all of my celebrity crushes are on guys way too old for me–Viggo Mortensen, Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves.

  5. But those guys are pretty timeless I say, they are the kind of forever beauty. Although it was quite a shock when I found out Johnny depp turned 40 this year. I used to watch 21 Jump Street Religiously, oh, 16 years ago. Who is Viggo??

  6. You don’t know who Viggo Mortensen is? sigh He is the guy who plays Aragorn in Lord of the Rings and was picked partially because he is by all reports quite close to the character–kingly, honorable, nice, multi-talented and understated. I believe he used to be married to this punk rocker chick named Exene or something. Yeah, he is also around 40ish. Looks like I have a thing for 40ish beautiful people.
I used to watch 21 Jump Street all the time, too. I probably didn’t even understand most of it, but it was interesting and it featured minority characters in prominent roles!
But Matt Damon and Ben Affleck–I could never choose between them because they are not men to me–they’re still frat boys.
