Just a quick note to say, I am so sorry about the delay of putting everyone’s essays up. There’s been a few issues, one: technicality, we couldn’t get Frostie to sign onto typepad, the other is I have been on a bit of a personal tangent and can’t stop writing.
Thirdly and probably the most real thing is that I had a complete block and fear of the project because everyone’s stories were so personal and quite heavy and the honest truth is most of us struggle with that aspect of our lives somewhat and reading them on mass was overwhelming. So I did the brave and adult thing and pretended it wasn’t there.
But me and Rick are back on, and it will happen soon. Sorry to all the writers out there. Just takes time.

That’s ok, sounds like you’re on your own personal discovery quest right now, which I would say is vastly more important than the peice of crap I wrote!
Sorry for calling your friend a guy in my last comment in another post, should have known only a women could be that intelligent (memo to self: must read Yan’s posts properly before commenting!)
There has been a lot of interesting stuff written here recently about you wanting to live in China, the pull you feel it has on you etc, and what other people have wrote, but I haven’t commented because I am totally not qualified and probably out of my depth, lol (even though I usually reserve the right to make a complete ass of myself) but it has been interesting to read different people’s views.

Yan– this is indeed a big project you’ve taken on, not only in size (many authors, many words), but in its emotional enormity. I sincerely applaud all your efforts that you’ve put into it so far, and hope that your readers will be as moved by it as you are.
I’ve read a few of the essays, and in spite being sad that we’ve collectively experienced so much misunderstanding, I find that I’m comforted in knowing that I’m not alone in the experience. I only wish I knew that when I was younger.

No worries Yan, this was a really ambitious project you took on, and I’m sure that we’ll all be overwhelmed reading through everyone’s essays!
