King Lychee is My New Favorite Hong Kong Band

Da Music Issue.

(I wrote to Riz in King Lychee, and he posted it on the message board with a reply. I thought it was nice, so I am also going to also post it here, as it’s all very honest and not faked in anyway.)

You guys ROCKED tonight. Finally caught a show. I am
so pleased that I did. In the biggest crowd too. I got
to see you in stadium surroundings.

We were all mightly mightly impressed. My ears were
ringing. I loved the assault. It was constant and hard
and not afraid. I love that in a band. Brave music.

You did well in that cavernous hall that just leaks
and bounce sounds. Worse place. But managed to sound
good. Very Very good.

The kids were going pretty mad at the back but I am
sure you saw.

No need to say, “Thanks for taking the time to listen
to a HK Band.”

It’s more like, “HARDCORE HK!”

Give them something, they loved you. Give them pride,
give them, Hong Kong.

Really. They would have responded.

There are a lot of Hong Kong people who are dying for
something home grown and when we see it GOOD we are
proud.

You guys gave Korn the run for their money. It’s
seldom the support bands stand up so well. Wish you
played longer, wished I was able to say “hello” but I
was stuck at the back tho my friend snuck to the front
bastard!

It was a very fun night. You’re my fave HK band by a
long mile now. It used to be LMF but I don’t know what
happened in their third album.

Reminds me to buy your new album. I will try and catch
you again.

Even at the end of the show my friend went, “That King
Lychee band was really impressive.”

I agreed.

Well done!

  1. People ALWAYS think I am a guy on the internet… German too. Coz it’s “Yan” they think it’s “Jan.” I have been to interviews when the person is standing there going “You’re Yan? I thought you were a white guy.” and I would go, “Do you think now I am an asian woman you won’t hire me? Aren’t there laws against that?”
