I Actually Thought the Matrix Reloaded Revolutions was Good?

Glutter Plugs and Doodle

(Actually this one is called the REVOLUTIONS, not Reloaded, opps)

I just saw the film and I thought it was fantastic. It reminded me of the first, just utterly cool, stylish and well thought out.

I could feel the lack of interest in the cinema all through, so I turned to my friend and said before the credits even rolled, “Listen, I admit it now. I loved every minute of it. I know I am one of about three people who liked it..” and he said back, “GLOBALLY.”

I said it reminded me of seeing Star Wars, and he said, “Exactly, Matrix was a cool, interesting film that’s now turned into some Sci Fi Blockbuster.”

Well yeah. It was a B movie with a huge budget, and after about 20 minutes I decided to give in to it and ride the whole thing through as the filmmakers intended, plug in so to speak. I couldn’t fight the lack of mind blowing material that the first one gave us any longer, accepted that, and I was free.

As I realized Neo, Trinity and Morpheus had been around for three years already so whatever they did, would be a repetition of the previous. I factored that in and thought what characters in new movies compared? None.

I liked it so much I may con some other friends to spend some time in a room bored while I hung out with that lot again. Hey, two hours with Keanu. He could be even MORE wooden and I still wouldn’t mind.

Just so you know how at the wrong end of the stick I was to most people:

“What is the Matrix?, the first film asked. This film answers that. The Matrix is the marketing software that encourages movies like this to be made. And it must be disabled.”
— Stephen Whitty, NEWARK STAR-LEDGER

“Reloaded was certainly a lumpy, gaseous treatise of a movie, but viewers of Revolutions may find themselves looking back on it fondly.”
— A.O. Scott, NEW YORK TIMES

“This is a sequel that only a die-hard fan could love. But those fans will love it very, very much.”
— David Sterritt, CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR

I guess I am a die hard fan. Actually I know I am. I went out and bought a pair of leather pants after I saw the first film. In fact, I admitted that in print on SCMP.

  1. I thought revolutions was good. I didn’t like reloaded when I saw it, but now when I think of it as a trilogy then I think it was great! Of course the first movie kicked arse and people figured the second and third installment sucked in comparison, but look at the three movies as one big movie and it rocks. Well thats what I think anyway

  2. Word. (as in… I am so down with what you said.) I think that’s what most people couldn’t get over. It wasn’t like the first one. But still cooler than anything else out there. The last fight scene, I was so mesmerized..
