Wait.. over half of my life (23 years to be exact), I was a Rejected Brit, paid my taxes, did what they told me, but didn’t get an EU passport.
So yes, I should be very “British,” but only up to the point that I can work for them, internalize their ways enough to admire and listen but never at a point where by I could be a true participatory citizen, I can only mimic. As a colonial subject, to become fully “British,” is a realm I am excluded from. So 52% is about right.

Well I spent the first 7 years of my life there and it turns out i’m still 60% British “just like Sir Elton John, roots in the UK, the rest of your hair is in the US.” lol.
I suppose i’ll always carry some Brit influence no matter how long I live down under but I still don’t give a damn about the Royal family’s latest adventures which probably would have made up the other 40%!

Yeah, and just the general Brit Infleuence in Australia. But you know.. I think OZ is more like the US than Britain, more like California anyway with the weather and all.

I’m in Melbourne, well just about 40 mins outside anyway, south eastern suburbs.
I hadn’t checked out Scott’s letters from HK, but I will when I get a little more time (Real Player is going to take about an hour to download on our computer, dammit!) but I promise i’ll have a listen cos it looks really interesting. I see you managed to plug your doco, good work!
Yeah we do have similar weather to California I suppose, not that i’ve been there, but I see that they have plenty of sun, beaches and bush fires too, unfortunately. I have an aunt that lives there so i’ll probably get out there eventually, all this talk of other countries makes me feel like taking a holiday, just wish I had the money! Gotta keep saving…

One Word: BROADBAND!
I can’t imagine what life is like with a dial up anymore. I did once have a 28K modem, which was such hot shit! But I never surfed then, only email and IRC, coz websites were boring then.
Yeah. California ROCKS. Depends who you go with and where you are of course. You could be stuck somewhere like where my aunt lives (middle of nowhere with malls and Macdonalds) and then you’re really in trouble.
You should check out courier companies. That’s how I travel to the US, practically free.. 🙂
