Yan reads her short story “Gallop” for the Great Weather for Media launch of the Escape Wheel anthology. Sept 5th 2020.

She will be headlining the Great Weather for Media’s “Spoken Words Sundays NYC” on June 14th 2020 @ The Parkside Lounge, 317 East Houston Street, New York. (Postponed)

Talks and Panels

Yan is available for talks on topics related the Hong Kong democratic movement, China’s censorship of internet and protest graphics from the 2019 HK resistance movement. 

She spoke at the 2007 London Amnesty International Conference, on the topic of internet censorship on the panel “Some People Think the Internet is a Bad Thing.”

In July 2020 Yan was a guest on USC’s Writing Remix Podcast taking about about Hong Kong’s new National Security Law, government censorship, the complicated nature of revolutions, and the importance of free speech to the work of a writer.

She has also participated in interviews and panels for PBS, BBC World Serivce, BBC Radio, Cable News Channel (HK), La Repubblica (Italy), Nouvel Observateur (France), La Nacion (Argentina) and others.
