Yan Sham-Shackleton

沈欣 is a writer and poet from Hong Kong who lives in Los Angeles.

Her fiction, poetry, and essays ha​s appeared in Chicago Quarterly Review, Cultural Weekly, Litro, Great Weather for Media, PopMatters, and others. She was a columnist for Hong Kong Free Press. ​

​Currently, Yan is working on her poetry manuscript: My Lover and I Bicker About Eggs. 

In 2006, she will be published in Southern California Poets by Moon Tide Press​.

Yan has spoken on free speech issues and Hong Kong’s democratic development for Amnesty International, BBC, and PBS. For more on her activism.

Some of Yan’s early works and zines are archived in Glasgow Women’s Library and The Riot Grrrl Collection at the Fales Library in NYU.
