It’s calm down a lot. The police representative has stopped. It’s hard to be too harsh to a group of people saying, “we want you to have food and water. We know you are hungry and tired. We will give you our food and our water. But we will not let this vehicle through.”

One student said, “if it’s too much for you right now, here is water.” And holding it out.

More police are coming out. The line of police has doubled.

Some look annoyed, others are trying not to look at the students. I think the general mood is worry, but really, “guys this my job, you are causing me grief.” Which is true.

One student said, “Hoi Fan la!” Which translate to “open rice,” a saying that Chinese people use to start a meal. Someone shouted “you need to eat food, not a truck.” Ah the great Cantonese humour seeping in once the shouting has stopped.
