Aaron Swartz’s Prosecutor, Carmen Ortiz Picked on Someone Bigger than Her

Just thinking about Aaron Swartz as Harvard Professor Lawrence Lessig is going to make a speech about him:

And how Carmen Ortiz the prosecutor has had her judgement questioned for going after him so un-relentlessly. In fact vilified over Swartz's suicide, thus ending any hope of further ascension to her career.

It struck me that Carmen Ortiz, as any bully, finally picked on someone bigger than her. A  young man who left a legacy beyond her imagination, and stole something that was, because she didn't understand, inconsequential to most. He was respected by a huge number of tech savvy young people, who mobilize easily, who created a critical mass destroying her career day-by-day on the very platforms Aaron helped create.

It doesn't bring him back, or ease the pain of his family and friends, but it feels a little bit of justice is served.
