Women Art Seminar, Designer and Art Walk this week.

Art

I felt a little guilty over my extensive musings over Paris Hilton’s Personal Content.

Here are some things that might make up for it.

Women Art Seminar this weekend at one space. One seminar discusses works of Sarah Lucas and Tracy Emnin, and a lot of feminist perspectives on postmodern contexts of women experieperiences in a semotic sense of emotional discourse. I shall of course be in the corner scribbling notes.

Once a year all the design studios let you peak into their offices and see what they are up to.
Designer Open House Sat: www.designerssaturday.com.hk

In it’s fifth year. For the sake of AIDs fund raising. Art galleries will open up in the evenings, feed you copious of not very good red wine and finger foods. (Go to the Fringe, suffer the Jesus paintings and eat thier food it’s always the best.) Art Walk 2005 http://www.hongkongartwalk.com/about.html

I shall be voleenteering at one of the non-profit galleries, you know like the kind that doesn’t host commercial, sell to foreigners "art" of Monks, Buddahs, and half dressed asian girls with it’s in your face stinging asian exotism/mysticism/exploitation. But even more objectionable I find, is that the pictures are so boring, that all it does it prove the owners have no taste but want to been seen as sophisticated. I feel embarressed everytime I am face with such an object on a wall, coz I like and know art, and thus am supposed to give some sort of approval when really I want to say, "A blank wall will show you have more personality that owning this if you ask me."
