Glutter is NOT as Ad Space, and I don’t see it ever being either.

Socio-Political Rants

Call me an idealist, call me having an artist temperment. But today (much like everyother day) I recieve emails that ask me to link exchange for money. Blackjacks, Casinos, whatever, whatever. I always delete them. I just honestly think putting ads on this site or any other site I have done out of love and passion, my interests or for myself is making it a little dirty. It’s like I am swapping what I do for something else, it dilutes the point of this. I do this because I believe in the open source movement, and that goes to creativity, ideas, and thoughts as well.

When I first came across the internet we concieved it to be a public library, we were going to put all the knowledge in the universe up on it, so we can reasearch and read thesis irregarless of geographical space. It was going to help developing world nations, allow students who don’t have access to libraries read and learn what they need.

That’s what Tim Berners-Lee had in mind when he put hypertext with servers. That’s why he created the http://www.w3.org/ Deep down that’s why i could never really stomach the whole dotcom days. I am proud of some of the technology and culture we all helped to create, but I coud never get my head around making money out of something when we hadn’t even reached the original goal. And we still haven’t, although we are getting there. And I felt I needed to say it because again, I am deleting all that advertizing crap.

I don’t want amazon wishlists, I don’t want donations, and I surely don’t want advertizing of cheap and low brow products assosiated with my name. I went through that with other sites, even if so many people were urging me to. It’s not how I want to make my living. Making something personal into a revenue generator. It won’t be mine anymore. part of the real estate will belong to the guys in Russia who launder money or whatever. Other people have different agendas, different sites, different concepts. I have mine.

The only was I could see me every placing a paypal account on this is if made something that someone might want to buy. A product, a video, a t-shirt.a poster. because someone saw something here they liked and gave me a chance or a job or whatever, because of an invaluble contact. Not because of the words or images I put here. These are my thoughts and feelings, these are glimspes into my passions and dreams. Within here are my trying to work out if there really isn’t a better way for the world to concieve itself.  And those kind of things are not for sale or rent. and shouldn’t be.
