Glutter Plugs and Doodles
On the plane back from Australia, I finally got a chance to watch “Without a Paddle,” my college bud Dax Shepard’s first movie, and one with Seth Green and Matthew Lillard no less. I have been following the updates through the last year, excited that Dax’s first film was a starring role. I was pretty nervous watching it, as I wasn’t sure how it had come out. The reviews weren’t great, and one horrible early reviewer said, “Cut that Dax guy out of the movie.” I figured at the very least, no one would know I had seen it, and if it was bad, I need not make a comment. But it wasn’t. I really enjoyed the film.
So anyway, I checked out the site, discovered the DVD release date was today, and thought to make a huge plug and ask everyone to see it, just to help along so that the boy could make a living in the acting business. It turns out I need not.
One quick search on “Dax Shepard,” (video interview) brings up the fact, he’s finished a movie with Matt Judge, working on supra budget Zathura with Tim Robbins, and going to start a film called Car Wars with a Hoffman whose first name is Dustin. If that’s not busy enough, he’s just gotten a “small” side project, having sold his script Guerilla Photographer to Adam Sandler’s production company. All this in year an half since he appeared on Punk’d. (You were very right David.)
People always ask what one could possibly do with an anthropology degree. Starting from now, we could perhaps reply: be a Movie Star?
Just as I had hoped. I am proud, babes.
