Stories of a Backpacking Addict

hah! thats really funny about the plane! im actually
in bankok right now, i totally missed you. i wouldnt
have been able to hook up anyway as i had to leave the
same day i arrived in vientianne. the trip through the
mountains was hell but good.

after 3 or 4 hours of
walking, a truck w. passengers came by and i got a
ride all the way to the intersection with the luang
prabang – vientianne road. it was 150km and it took us
1.5 days to cover! totally scary – greasy mud on
narrow mountain roads suspended over steep dropoffs.

i made a few prayers to the road god for a safe journey.
overall i wouldnt do it again because of the danger,
but it was cool to be with the same group of people
for so long, through such rough conditions. an
adventure for sure, when rightly considered.

im glad the magic is back.
