Hong Kong
Friday: After the whole bunch of stress in the last week and a half, I decided that it was time to get off my “Sober Trip” and get blasted.
This was met with mucho congratulations and hugs. “You know, it was a good thing you did that. You tried it for a year an a half, and it was possibly…”
“Too long?” I asked.
“Yes, too long and it’s time for you to relax and chill out with the rest of us. Have another vodka.”
Which I did.
It was fun. At some point I walked out of the club and my friend went, “Are you leaving?”
And I replied, “No.”
“Then where are you going?”
I replied, “I don’t know.”
So I decided to follow them back in, which seemed like a good idea too.
Then after a few more rounds in different places, my body decided it wasn’t feeling too well and had to sit on some stairs to breath. Andy suggested we go to his friend’s place round the corner. I thought that was a great idea.
We wandered for a bit then followed him into a lift. We pressed the button, nothing happened. Andy went,
“I need to find some code to activate the lift.”
He stepped out to dial a number. The door closed. James and I started shooting up into the air, I slid down onto the floor and sat cross legged, while leaning back onto the wall. We reached the whatever floor we were headed and the door opened. He walked out, cigarette in hand and tripped some sort of alarm. The building shook Brrrrrriiiiinnggg, Briiiingggg. The lift started to go down again.
I thought, “Great, one of my friends is up on some floor I don’t know. The other is down on the ground and now I am in Limbo Land..” Briiiiiinnggg, Brrrrinnnggg…
Brrriiinnngggg Briiingringring.. The lift stood to a halt, but nothing happened.
I stared at the door, willing it to open. It did not. Bbbbbbrrrinnnnggggggg
Bbbbbbrrrinnnnggggggg “Even better! What to do? I should try and stand up.”
Just then the metal in front of me glided open, and I was faced with Andy and the security manager. I waved and said, “Hello!”
Brrrrriiiiinnnnnggggg. “You’re still here? Are we missing one?”
“Er. Yep!” Brrrrrriiiinnnggggggggggg
We went back up, the extra non-plussed manager slipped his card somewhere and it all stopped.
We went into Andy’s friend’s studio apartment. There were a bunch of people, the couch was filled and I didn’t know where to go, so I just sat on the floor.
The host came up to me and said in a European accent, “Hi, this is my place, and please feel free to do whatever, don’t feel uncomfortable, and English is my second language too, so even if you can’t speak it, like don’t worry okay?”
“Oh, I do speak it..”
She seemed a little embarrassed and I was like, “No, No, it’s cool. That’s really nice of you, especially if I didn’t. That’s really very kind.” And the door bell rang.
Moment of panic: “We’re too loud!” “The cops!” “It is 5 something am!!!” “No!” “Argh!” And someone jumped over my head and into the bathroom.
It turned out to be firemen with blue flashing lights on their head.
“No. No Fire! Just cigarettes! We’re so sorry!”
They went.
The host looked at me and said, “That freaked me out a little.”
I nodded.
I looked at her and said, “I think it’s time for me to go home.”
And she nodded back.
Then we both laughed.
