Education, Crocs and Safest Building in the World..

Hong Kong

This afternoon, as a bunch of us sat around the table for brunch, I was forced to read the paper as that was the only thing to do, since thoughts were not particularly easy to muster.

First glance: Tung Chee Wah tells us that the cuts in education funding won’t affect the quality of schools and universities. Right….

Second glance: Still trying to catch the crocodile. I am not sure why. It doesn’t seem the reptile bit anyone nor does anyone fish, swim, wash or drink out of the river. Seems to me we should just leave it alone and let it exist.

Third glance: IFC 2 has proclaimed itself “The safest building in the world,” in a headline then at least “One of the safest building in the world,” in the main article.

Bullocks, how do you measure that? Does it mean other buildings aren’t “safe?” It always is safe until it isn’t.

Question: What two other entities were once said to be, “Indestructible,” and “Unsinkable?”

Answer: the World Trade Center and the Titanic.

Give me something real to be impressed about. like, “Most energy efficient,” “Used the most recycled materials,” or “Had the best worker safety.”

After that I gave up and ate my eggs, ham and toast in silence.

PS. Turn Off, Shut Out, and I Know Why People Don’t Bother to Vote.

This Weekend

Friday: Cops, Lifts, and Alarms: It was Definately Time to Go Home

Saturday: The amazing thing of telephones, air travel and internet

Later Saturday: Why Can’t My Friends in Poor Countries Come Visit Me? Plus a little on article 23 and fear of saying what i think.

Sunday: The Difference Between Blink & Wink and how it link to the idea of ONE COUNTRY…. Somehow…

Stupid Sunday at SCMP: Education, Crocs and Safest Building in the World..

  1. You have a crocodile running amok? Maybe we could send you Steve Irwin, the croc hunter! Ever heard of him? He’s this wacky guy, has a TV show out here where he spends his time jumping on top of various crocodiles to move them to safe areas.
I like how you used the word “bullocks” above in reference to the “world’s safest building!” 🙂 I hear that word quite frequently here at home. lol
