The Sound of the Engines

Riding With Hong Kong Street Racers

Last night I kept hearing the cars roar past my apartment. The sound of the enginsz, grrrrr, grrrr, and I missed the feeling of going out with them.

I also remember how shocked I was when I found out the reason they cut the muffler and put new exhaust pipes in was, “Just to look cool, and you can hear the engine better.”

“It’s not to make the car faster?”

“Nah. Just more the look and the soundscape.”

I realized then, that the boys were vain.
