Question: Why Do Hong Kong People Want Democracy?

7 percent

Here is my new epiphany about the democratic movement in Hong Kong and the magic number of half a million:

500 000 is seven percent of our population.

7% of China’s population is 70 million.

Sadly, they don’t have the right to gather, but what if they did? Think about that for a moment.

Quiz 1: Why Do Hong Kong People Want Democracy?
At July 9th Protest

Answer:

philip_wong.jpg

Legislator Mr. Philip Wong Yu-hong as he left Legco on Wednesday.

Like Tung he refused to make a verbal statement to the protesters but choose this response instead. He represents the “Functional Constituency”.

We didn’t vote for him either.

Counter to what people like James Tien is saying. It’s not Hong Kong people who are not ready for democracy, it’s our idiotic Legislators who aren’t.

Turtles VS Democracy

Both are important.

Which one do you think will get screen space in Liberal e-Paper?

Answer Below…

I have to admit I am a little upset at Salon right now. After two weeks of political changes in my home city. The only piece of News I have seen on the site regarding my home town is:

Hong Kong officials seize 10,000 turtles

Three pieces of Hong Kong related news hit the wires and International press in the last 24 hours. The first pro-democracy protest in Chinese Soil since 1989. 21 people killed in a bus accident. And 10,000 Turtles saved from dinner tables.

One thing for your hopes and dreams of democracy to slide below radar. Another to have it surpassed by a bunch of Turtles.
